Seven Deadly Sins   2004, 4.5" x 4.25", loose leaf in folder, 222 copies, $25 USD

Synopsis: Seven Deadly Sins are packaged separately for individual consideration in this loose leaf collection from veteran artist's book maker Gray Fraser. Each shiny black sheet is folded into a simple pamphlet and holds a loose gauze-y paper imprinted with the word for each sin and its linguistic origin. Inside each pamphlet, personal texts recount the artist's experience with the named sin. Opening and closing the black pages a reader feels like he or she is participating in the artist's confession ritual. Printedmatter.org

"I’m at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. My mother won the trip by being the one millionth customer to buy something in a craft store. It was some kind of promotion to get people to spend. We are waiting in a very long line to go on the Space Mountain roller coaster. It’s an indoor ride that’s in the dark. There is a family beside me and the fat kids are whining about starving to death." From Gluttony section of Seven Deadly Sins.

"I’m sitting in a café, it’s 9 a.m. I have an early appointment at 10:30 a.m. I prefer afternoon appointments so I can get my shit together at a leisurely pace. I don’t mind working long nights to compensate. I guess if I chose to be a president of a large company I would have to change my ways. Maybe not, I don’t know anything about the corporate world." From Envy section of Seven Deadly Sins.
